The Art of Casual Chic
Leggings, tights, yoga pants.. I said it many times, these are a big no for ladylike women despite being modern ladies.
.
Why aren’t they considered elegant? Because yoga pants or gym clothes are for sport and they should be worn if practicing.
Also because often times, leggings are the quick choice to not think much and just get on with our day making zero effort to look presentable.
.
Let’s keep in mind that dressing properly is a form of respect to yourself and to others. You would pay attention to what you are wearing if you were to meet the president wouldn’t you? So why not consider yourself or your entourage as deserving as this important person?
"You are saying something with your appearance wether you meant to or not, so you may as well mean to"
- Lyle Lovett
But the need for comfort is understandable, we all have to go through our days surviving errands, home chores, children, work and other fulfilling activities that require us a minimum of versatility. So here are some alternatives:
High waisted pants that aren't too tight on the legs. It gives a feminine allure by marking the waist.
Monochromatic loungewear when you stay home. Monochromatic outfits always look more chic.
The sweater dress for winter or the maxi dress for summer. Very comfortable option.
(I realize many of these inspirations found online are beige or white but if, like me, you see your life in colours, go for it!)
Midi skirts with sneakers can work. (Make sure your sneakers are neat and clean).
I just want to add that basic white sneakers are a chic choice for casual outfits
I am not here to impose rules, the idea is to bring awareness on how it could benefit you to make this extra effort to think of your outfit. Do not neglect your style, it really is the window to your soul. Show the world how beautiful you are inside and out!
